The UK & Irish Forum for Spinal Cord Injury Multi-Professional Education (SCIMPE)
THE SCIMPE MISSION STATEMENT
SCIMPE intends to be a dynamic professional network incorporating educational representatives from within all of the 12 UK and Irish Spinal Cord Injury Centres (SCICs). SCIMPE was founded on the 11th September 2001, a date that we will not easily forget. SCIMPE's mission is to establish, through collaboration, an educational strategy approved by all of the Centres. Each SCIMPE member is tasked with facilitating multi-professional education for all those involved in the lifetime management of people with SCI throughout the patient trajectory.
SCIMPE'S achievements to date:
- Agreed the fundamental knowledge and skills requirements for nursing staff new to the specialty of SCI Nursing to be addressed during their initial preceptorship period
- Agreed the indicative content of a post-registration Continuous Professional Education Programme
- Completed and agreed educational standards for mullti-disciplinary staff development within SCI Centres
- Compiled a directory of nursing competencies for nurses employed within SCI Centres
