A one day study day for nurses and carers

This study day will be held at the Northern General Hospital and will run from approximately 8.30 am – 5pm. Confirmation of venue and start time will be sent by post to your address prior to the day.

This Study Day is suitable for Nursing Professionals and Carers who are involved in the care of Spinal Cord Injured Individuals in the Community. The day is intended to build on everyone’s
current knowledge and skills. A resource book will be given to all participants as well as suggestions for further reading and further education / development
opportunities.

The aim of the day is to enable every participant to feel better equipped to meet the specific needs of someone who is paralysed. Lectures and Sessions will include:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Autonomic Dysreflexia
  • Bladder and Bowel Management
  • Physiotherapy & Home Exercises
  • Skin Integrity/Surgical Management of Pressure Sores
  • Wheelchair Choice and Seating Issues
  • Living with Spinal Cord Injury - from the patients’ perspective

The fee for the day is £50 for NHS Staff and £80 for Private Sector Staff . This fee is inclusive of lunch and drinks.

Please note:
This study attracts substantial interest and places are secured on a first come first serve basis. Please be aware that the course is often filled before the closing date – book early to avoid disappointment. It is not possible to secure a place other than by payment of the registration fee. If applicants need to cancel, they must inform Leanne at least 7 days prior to the date of the study day. The course fee will not be refunded if applicants fail to attend or cancel at short notice.
