10th-11th May 2019

Posture, Seating and Wheelchair Skills Course

Dates: Friday 10- Saturday 11 May 2019

Cost: £200.00 inclusive of lunch

Aims:

This two-day course takes a very practical and clinically based approach to all aspects of assessing and prescribing seating for adult manual wheelchair users. Although the examples used in this course will be drawn from a spinal cord injured population, many of the principles can be applied to clients with other similar neurological pathologies.

Course objectives:

  • Principles of seated posture and 24 hr positioning
  • Evidence based justification to support the configuration of lightweight manual wheelchairs relating to user function
  • Provide a clear structure for the physical assessment of posture
  • Matching assessment findings to seating solutions
  • Practical opportunities to learn manual wheelchair skills including loading wheelchair in/out of the car.   Experienced wheelchair skills trainers will instruct and supervise this session.

There will be a range of wheelchairs and cushions available during the two days for the delegates to discuss and work with.
